[GWMarathon]

These were taken during The Race. Some I took time to stop and avoid shaking; others I tried to keep going. These too are just some of those taken, are really just give you a flavor for the course, and the people. The support was terrific!

No Race is complete without some pre-race festivities. The locals dressed up and danced!
Local TV coverage--didn't see it on the English-language channel.
Linda relaxes before the Race.
START! See the smoke from the starter pistol.
The local officials watching the racers depart. They speech-ified prior to the start.
The entrance to the "park" leading up to the Wall.
Starting the uphill portion, about 4km to the Wall, on the first trip through. We come back down near the finish, so that's good to know.
Still going up hill to the Wall.
Still going up, I think.
This is much later--in Duanzhuang Village, where the two course diverge. The striped enclosure on the left is the WC.
This is a slight grade leading to Xiaying Village, with some locals pacing us.
Back down hill into Xiaying Town. There's a crowd at the bottom of the hill, shown in the picture below.
This is after passing the crowd, looking back.
Just some sights along the way. The fellow sitting down was hammering at rocks in the river bed. I clueless as to what he was seeking.
Going up hill toward Qingshanling Village. This turned into much more of a hill than we expected.
Still going up hill. At least it is nicely paved.
We started somewhere below the level of this lake. Still going up hill here, too.
Some of the locals out to support the racers in Qingshanling Village.
Kids even out of school, it seems.
Once one goes up, you get to go down. You can just make out the racers on the road below.
The locals were very supportive!
After Chedaoyu Village, we passed into some really rugged roads, with some pretty rough rocks jutting out. I walked a lot of this area, to keep from twisting an ankle.
Back onto pavement in Duanzhuang Village, the second time through. Still to come at this point is the second pass of the Wall, so it is not yet "all downhill from here."
On the flats, heading back to the Fort at Huanguaguan Village, to start the second pass at the Wall.
Dropping off the Wall for the last time. Remember the group of Danes from Inspection day? This is about the same spot. Nearly "all down hill" from here. There was one small up-hill about half way down. Participants are really thinned out by now, of course.
Truly "all down hill" now. Last picture of the Race.
